Dr Melanie Johns
Originally from Hamilton, Melanie has worked at Chadwick Healthcare since early 2012 following her return to New Zealand from medical practices in Ireland and Wales. Melanie became a GP because she wanted to help people at the top of the cliff rather than be the ambulance at the bottom. She gained her medical degree from Otago University and has worked as a GP for the past 10 years.
She also holds a Diploma in Paediatrics from the University of Auckland, and a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom.
She enjoys the variety of work that general practice offers but also has a particular interest in sexual health, gynaecology and caring for young children.
Melanie forms strong relationships with her patients and relates well to a wide variety of people. Outside of work she enjoys tramping and getting outdoors in the Bay of Plenty and beyond.
Melanie works Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday at Greerton
